What is Splash The Pot™?
Splash The Pot™ is a cash game feature that, active during select promotional periods, randomly adds money to pots before the flop. When a hand gets splashed, extra chips are added to the pot for all players to compete for. Whoever wins the main pot takes the full splash amount.
How Splash The Pot™ Works
Splashes occur randomly in cash games during active Splash The Pot™ promotional periods, based on the rake collected from the previous hand. The splash amount is added to the pot before any betting begins. The main pot winner receives the splash amount, while side pot winners do not receive any portion of the splash.
Splash amounts are not subject to rake. The likelihood of a splash depends on the previous hand's rake contribution. Your hand history shows splash amounts for every splashed hand you play.
Splash Calculation
The probability of a splash occurring during an active Splash The Pot™ promotion is calculated using this formula:
Likelihood = (Rake Return % × Previous Hand Rake) / Average size of a splash
For example, if the rake return percentage is 5%, the previous hand had 5BB of rake, and the expected reward value is 10BB, the likelihood equals (5% × 5BB) / 10BB = 2.5%. This means there's a 2.5% chance the next hand will be splashed. The rake return percentage varies by promotion and is listed on each promotion's dedicated page. The 5% figure is used as an example.
Splash The Pot™ runs during specific promotional time periods, with the rake return percentage varying by promotion. Visit the poker promotions page to see current and upcoming Splash The Pot™ offers, including active times and rakeback percentages.
Visual Indicators
When a splash occurs, you'll notice visual changes at your table. The pot amount displays in gold, and depending on the splash level, you may see enhanced chip graphics, table edge glows, or even changes to the felt color. These visual cues help you immediately recognize when a splash has hit.
You can view the splash breakdown by hovering over the pot on desktop or tapping it on mobile. The display shows player contributions in white and the splash amount in gold, making it easy to see exactly how much extra money is in play.
BIG SPLASH Events
BIG SPLASH is the rarest and most exciting splash event at BetRivers Poker, occurring only during active Splash The Pot™ promotional periods. During a Big Splash, BetRivers Poker can add up to 1,000 big blinds to the pot. When it occurs, every player in the hand participates in a special hand with unique rules.
Everyone shows their cards and no betting is allowed. The board runs out on its own, and prizes are distributed according to a special structure. The winner takes home 70% of the main pot, while the remaining 30% gets split equally among all other players in the hand. Even if you don't win the hand, you collect a share just for being dealt in. No rake is collected on BIG SPLASH hands.
BIG SPLASH hands are extremely rare, but when they happen, everyone at the table benefits. The special intro animation and celebration effects make these moments memorable for all players involved.
Hand History Details
Every splashed hand shows "STP Added: $X.XX" immediately after the hole cards are dealt. The summary section at the bottom of your hand history breaks down the pot into Total pot, Main pot, STP amount, and Rake.
BIG SPLASH hand histories look different because of the unique gameplay. They show no blind posts, all players' face-up cards, no betting action, and the automatic board runout. The summary displays how the splash was distributed between the main pot (70%) and side pots (30%).
Frequently Asked Questions
Which games have Splash The Pot™?
All BetRivers Poker cash games include Splash The Pot™ during active promotional periods. The feature is not available in tournaments or Sit & Go games.
Do I need to opt in?
No. Splash The Pot™ is automatically active on impacted cash game tables, during its scheduled promotional periods. Just sit down and play, while a Splash The Pot™ promotion is running. Visit the poker promotions page for the current schedule.
Can I turn Splash The Pot™ off?
No. When a Splash The Pot™ promotion is active, it applies to all players at all tables that are impacted by the promotion.
How often do splashes occur?
Splash frequency depends on the rake collected from the previous hand during active Splash The Pot™ promotional periods. Higher rake increases the probability of a splash on the next hand. The exact calculation is based on the configured rake return percentage for that promotion and the expected splash value.
What determines the splash size?
The splash size is determined by configured splash amounts set for each cash game pool and promotion. Different pools and promotions may have different splash configurations.
Gameplay Questions
Who wins the splash money?
The player who wins the main pot receives the splash amount. BIG SPLASH hands are the exception, where the winner receives 70% of the main pot and the remaining 30% gets split equally among all other players in the hand.
What if multiple players tie for the main pot?
The splash amount is split equally among all main pot winners, just like the rest of the pot.
Do side pot winners get any splash money?
No. Only the main pot winner receives splash money in standard splash hands. BIG SPLASH hands follow a different distribution where all seated players receive a share.
What if I'm all-in for less than the splash amount?
If you win the main pot, you receive the splash amount that's part of the main pot. Like any poker hand, if your all-in creates side pots, the splash remains with the main pot.
How does the splash affect pot-limit games?
In pot-limit games, splash chips are excluded from pre-flop pot calculations but included post-flop. In no-limit games, splash chips are always included in pot size calculations.
What happens if I fold in a splashed hand?
The splash stays in the pot for the remaining players. If you fold, you cannot win the splash amount.
Rake and Value Questions
Is the splash amount raked?
No. The splash amount itself is not subject to rake. However, the rest of the pot (player contributions) is still raked according to normal rake rules.
How is rake calculated on splashed hands?
Rake is calculated based only on player contributions to the pot, excluding the splash amount. For example, if the total pot is $25 and includes a $5 splash, rake is calculated on $20 (the player contributions), not $25.
Where does the splash money come from?
Splash The Pot™ returns a percentage of rake collected back to players during active promotional periods. The rakeback percentage varies by promotion - for example, 5% - and is distributed randomly through splash events across cash game tables impacted during that window. Visit the poker promotions page to see the rate for current and upcoming offers.
How does Splash The Pot™ work with iRush Rewards?
Splash The Pot™ operates independently from iRush Rewards. Both features provide value to cash game players. Your iRush Rewards progress is based on your rake contribution, while Splash The Pot™ provides random pot bonuses during its promotional periods. Together, they form part of your overall rewards at BetRivers Poker.
Can splash configurations change?
Yes. BetRivers may adjust splash configurations, including which promotional periods are active, their rakeback percentages, and increased splash amounts or frequencies. Any changes will be communicated to players in advance.
